If you have problems with a machine, please consult the manufacturers web site This guide shows troubleshooting actions you can take in general and on some of our folding machines. If your machine is not listed here, follow the general guide. If you are unable to fix your problem, please call us at 800-520-6008 for help. |
| |
| 1. Is there power to the machine? |
Check the plugs in the wall socket and in the machine. This is one of the most common problems. Try a light in the wall plug to make sure that is OK. Some plugs must be seated in the machine with force. |
| 2. Does the paper load straight? |
All machines have paper guides on the feed tray. Some, like the 200/HSM have guides in the lower body. Make sure that the paper stops on the fold plates are straight. Some machines have a skew adjustment. Check your manual. |
| 3. Are the settings correct? |
When you fold paper, you must set 2 dials. 1 is for the first fold, 2 is for the second. C, Z and Half folds have settings on the dials or fold plates. For others, you must fold the paper as you want it, then measure the first fold, set it on dial 1, then measure the 2nd fold and set it on dial 2. You have a lot of flexibility. If you are doing a half fold, only one plate is used. Set the non used plate properly according to your instruction booklet. |
| 4. It slips or still doesn't work |
Most paper has a powdery coating that keeps the sheets from sticking together. It can build up on the rollers. So first, clean the Feed Roller with roller cleaner, available at office suppy stores. In a pinch you can use rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't work, you may have to replace the rollers (after many, many sheets). |
| 5. It jams. |
Take the fold plates off of the machine. Look for paper in the machine. Check your settings and put fold plate one on and run a few sheets. If that does not work, you are putting the plate on wrong or there is a jam in the machine. Keep looking until you find all of the paper or the source of the jam. If that does work, put fold plate 2 on and run a few sheets. If it jams a fold plate 2, make sure your settings are correct and that you have the plate in the machine properly. |

| 1. The machine is jamming. |
Take out both folding guide trays. Check the settings, then replace them in the body making sure that each one is in firmly. If they can be moved more than a little bit, they are not in correctly. Also make sure the feed hopper is pushed all the way in (it slides into a slot). You also received an extra set of rubber feed pads with the machine. You should replace these pads to see if that is the problem. If you need more, call the Company at 949-486-0678. |
| 2. Are the folds straight? |
Recheck the settings on each plate. They must be at the same mark on both sides. |
| 3. Are the folds in the wrong place? |
When you fold paper, you must set 2 stop plates. 1 is for the first fold, 2 is for the second. The first fold is the long fold. C, Z, Half and Double Parallel folds have settings on the plates. For custom folds, you must experiment. You have a lot of flexibility. |
| 4. It feeds more than one sheet. |
If it grabs more than 1 sheet, you may have too many sheets in the hopper or the hopper may not be in all the way. Make sure it is, then try around 25 sheets. If that doesn't work, a powdery coating on the paper that keeps the sheets from sticking together may have built up on the rollers. Put a bit of rubber roller cleaner (available at office supply stores) on several sheets of paper, then run those through. You also received an extra set of rubber feed pads with the machine. You should replace these pads to see if that is the problem. If you need more, call the Company at 949-486-0678. |

DYNAFOLD FOLDING MACHINES

| 1. The machine is jamming. |
Take out both folding guide trays. Check the settings, then replace them in the body making sure that each one is in firmly. If they can be moved more than a little bit, they are not in correctly. Also make sure the feed hopper is pushed all the way in (it slides into a slot). |
| 2. Is the paper placed in the feed tray correctly? |
One of the recurring problems. When you put the paper in the feeder, the whole plate (which is held up by a spring) must be pushed down before the paper is put in. The front edge of the paper rests against a shiny metal stop. Then let up on the paper tray. This is the only way to position the paper properly. It will jam otherwise. Also, there is a small black rectangle on the feed plate with a wire coming out of it. The black rectangle must be there. If it becomes loose, glue it back down. |
For a half fold, the knob on the first plate must be all the way to the bottom. |
| 4. It feeds more than one sheet. |
If it grabs more than 1 sheet, you may have too many sheets in the hopper or the hopper may not be in all the way. See 2 above. Make sure it is, then try around 25 sheets. If that doesn't work, a powdery coating on the paper that keeps the sheets from sticking together may have built up on the rollers. Put a bit of rubber roller cleaner or rubbing alcohol in a pinch (available at office supply stores) on several sheets of paper, then run those through. |
